It forms part of the larger Virunga Conservation Area, which spans across Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The park's focal point is its endangered mountain gorillas, and visitors can embark on an unforgettable gorilla trekking experience, immersing themselves in the world of these gentle giants. In 2021, approximately 12,000 visitors ventured into the park for an up-close encounter with these awe-inspiring creatures.
